The name comes from the stories our Mother used to tell us about her childhood; filled with ration books, sleeping 6 kids to a bed and good old fashioned iron will.
PopChoc was part of an entry into a book that formed a secret tab between our Grandma and a local greengrocer. It seems fitting to use this name for our gallery, especially since we were very close to our Grandma and the Pop element reflects the type of art we both love, and the work our artists create.
PopChoc today means something very different from making ends meet during war time. Today it means affordable, contemporary art from some of Brighton's finest artists. Over the past 7 years we have have nurtured relationships with all of our artists, and have bought their work for our own personal collections.
We are very proud of PopChoc, and have faith and belief in what we are doing and the work we promote. Adopting a very personal approach and a down to earth attitude has helped us demystify the art buying process. We aim to open up a new world to those who are yet to discover the joy of owning original art, and help to enrich the collections of regular art buyers.
Best wishes
